The teller started to laugh and shouted that she was going to call the police. She said no, then she threatened to call the police, and I realized that her motive was to intimidate. I asked her if I was invading her personal space at this point. She said no she was there to make sure that her coworker’s personal space was not being invaded. I stepped out of the desk area to meet her and I asked her if she was there to help. I turned around and saw that the teller was coming from behind the teller gate and was concerned but not unduly so. She had not been nice to us up to this point, and we were beginning to wonder at the motive. When it appeared that we were not going to be able to resolve the situation, she must have decided that she wanted out of the situation and said that we were suddenly in her personal space and pretended that she was offended in some way. She invited us to speak and one of us got up to get closer to the phone and started to talk to the person at the other end of the line. The bank worker in front of us first said that she couldn’t put the call on speakerphone, but then magically learned how do it. By this point, we were convinced that we had already provided all the paperwork necessary to do this transaction, and felt that the corporate office should have been able to find the paperwork. She called someone at the corporate office who supposedly validated what she was thinking. We asked her to call someone and find out what the process was. We asked her to look at the paperwork already on file, which was with Iberia bank before First Horizon purchased it, and she said there was no paperwork there. She pulled up the account and said that there was no paperwork that we were authorized to close the account. We went to her desk and requested an account be closed. She did not get up and greet us at any time. She waited on two gentlemen who had been there before us and had been waiting for her to finish gossiping with the teller, and then called out for the person who wanted to close the account. I said that I didn’t realize that she worked there, and she gave me a dirty look and moved to her desk. She was dressed in a workout pants, a sweatband and a top. After a moment, the woman in front of the teller counter turned and asked us if she could help us. Upon entering, there was one woman working in an office, one woman behind the teller counter and one woman leaning against the customer section of the teller counter. Today, we went to First Horizon Bank located in Lake Mary to close an account. While it might appear that JTable and JTree objects are focus cycle roots, they are not.Ī focus traversal policy determines the order in which a group of components are navigated. The following Swing objects can be focus cycle roots: JApplet, JDesktopPane, JDialog, JEditorPane, JFrame, JInternalFrame, and JWindow. A focus cycle root can itself contain one or more focus cycle roots. By default, every JWindow and JInternalFrame component can be a focus cycle root. The focus cycle root is the container that is the root for a particular focus traversal cycle. JWindow component, or to use an undecoratedĪ focus cycle (or focus traversal cycle) is a set of components that share a common ancestor in the containment hierarchy. The solution is either to specify a visible owning frame when creating the The result is that components in the JWindow component might not be able to get the focus. By default, if you do not specify an owning frame for a JWindow component, an invisible owning frame is created for it. JWindow and focus: To use a JWindow component in your GUI, you should know that the JWindow component's owning frame must be visible in order for any components in the window to get the focus. The FocusConceptsDemo example illustrates a few concepts. To fix this issue, you need to make sure that it satisfies all the requirements outlined in Making a Custom Component Focusable. A custom component is not getting the focus.Input verification is a solution to this problem. A component must to be prevented from losing focus, or you need to check a value in a component before it loses focus. For more details see Customizing Focus Traversal. To fix this issue, you can change the containment hierarchy, you can change the order that the components are added to their containers, or you can create a custom focus traversal policy. As shown in a code snippet in the preceding section, you can use the requestFocusInWindow method to set the focus on a component when the window becomes visible. The ordering is right but the first component with the focus is not set.In most cases it behaves in a reasonable manner, and if it does not you can tweak its behavior in various ways. The focus subsystem is designed to do the right thing as invisibly as possible. Tracking Focus Changes to Multiple Components. The rest of this section covers the following topics: This button will have the initial focus.įtVisible(true) //Display the window.Īlternatively, you can apply a custom FocusTraversalPolicy to the frame and call the getDefaultComponent method to determine which component will gain the focus. JButton button = new JButton("I am first") įrame.getContentPane().add(panel) //Add it to the panel Create the component that will have the initial focus. JPanel panel = new JPanel(new BorderLayout()) This code snippet shows how to give a particular component the focus every time the window gains the focus: A component can also be given the focus programmatically, such as when its containing frame or dialog-box is made visible. However, on other operating systems, such as Solaris™ Operating System, the window manager may choose the focused window based on cursor position, and in these cases the behavior of the Window.toFront method is different.Ī component generally gains the focus when the user clicks it, or when the user tabs between components, or otherwise interacts with a component. Window.toFront method moves the window to the front, thereby giving it the focus. On some operating systems, such as Microsoft Windows, the front window usually becomes the focused window. There is no foolproof way, across all platforms, to ensure that a window gains the focus. Only one component at a time in the window system can have the keyboard focus.Įxactly how a window gains the focus depends on the windowing system. These visual cues let the user know to which component any typing will relate. The window containing the component is also more prominent than other windows onscreen. For a key press to affect a component, the component must have the keyboard focus.įrom the user's point of view, the component with the keyboard focus is generally prominent with a dotted or black border, for example. Many components even those primarily operated with the mouse, such as buttons can be operated with the keyboard. “But sometimes these younger brands can struggle to scale, which is really where A.k.a. “And we are really focused on those social-media lead, next generation brands that are just really good at content and building loyal followings on social media,” the CEO continued. So M&A is very much a timing game as well. Just because we’re interested and ready to buy a brand doesn’t mean that a founder is ready to give up control of their company. And sometimes the interesting thing about acquiring brands is that there’s a timing component to it as well. Because you never want to miss an interesting opportunity. “M&A is really a balance of having a strategic, prioritized framework, as well as being opportunistic, as great opportunities present themselves. “We would like to add one to two really select strategic acquisitions annually,” Ramsey said. And Culture Kings is a global leader in streetwear hats and hoodies and T-shirts and sneakers. “Mnml is very good at denim and bottoms, which we see as a perfect complement to our Culture Kings brand. This kite has what appears to be a dragonfly in its talons. That’s the Swallow-tailed Kite in the top right. Adults and recently fledged juveniles were present. The Mississippi Kites were to be the indicator that I was in the right place for the swallowtail, but I was unprepared for the sheer number of kites I would encounter on that morning.Īt any given time the sky was full of up to 4 or 5 kettles of Mississippi Kites each containing a dozen or more birds. And, as it turned out, that was the case. Reportedly, the swallowtail was coming out around midmorning and flying with kettles of Mississippi Kites. I took these pictures earlier in the summer when I was in far southeast Dallas County to photograph a rare Swallow-tailed Kite. With prey in hand (talon) the kites could often be seen feeding while on the wing. On several occasions I witnessed a kite dive out of the sky and skim over the grass in order to nab a hapless grasshopper or dragonfly. Mississippi Kites are birds of prey, but they hunt mostly insects. Their acrobatic flying skills hone the analogy. They breed in the southern Great Plains, and migrate south to winter in south Texas, south Florida, and South America. Builds a stick nest in the top of a tree. Prefers riparian woodlands occasionally occurs close to humans in suburban areas. Graceful in flight with fluid wingbeats and long glides. Gray overall with whitish head, white secondaries on upperside of wing, and black tail. The juvenile has a white or buff head and neck, dark streaked underparts, and three stripes on the tail. Long-winged raptor with narrow, pointed wings that help it maneuver to catch insects in flight. The adult is mostly gray in color with black tail feathers and outer wing feathers, red eyes, and yellow feet. This Kite is sociable and migrates, forages, and roosts in small flocks. It forages high in the sky for large insects occasionally it forages for grasshoppers, reptiles, and amphibians. It is uncommon and found where large trees are present in open areas (farm fields, pastures, and woodlands). It measures about 14 inches in length and about 10 ounces in weight. The Mississippi Kite (Ictinia mississippiensis) is a small bird of prey in the family Accipitridae that is known for its agility and gracefulness in flight. In fact, many proteins have a mixture of a helices, b sheets, and other types of folding patterns to form various overall shapes. A single polypeptide chain may have different regions that take on different secondary structures. These include various loops, helices and irregular conformations. While the a helix and b sheet are by far the most common types of structure, many others are possible. The major constituent of silk (silk fibroin) consists mainly of layers of b sheet stacked on top of each another. In this arrangement, side chains project alternately upward and downward from the sheet. Generally, the primary structure folds back on itself in either a parallel or antiparallel arrangement, producing a parallel or antiparallel b sheet. Again, the polypeptide N-H and C=O groups form hydrogen bonds to stabilize the structure, but unlike the a-helix, these bonds are formed between neighbouring polypeptide (b) strands. In a b sheet, the polypeptide chain folds back on itself so that polypeptide strands like side by side, and are held together by hydrogen bonds, forming a very rigid structure. The structure of a b sheet is very different from the structure of an a-helix. An example of a protein with many a-helical structures is the keratin that makes up human hair. The side chains project outward and contact any solvent, producing a structure something like a bottle brush or a round hair brush. The alpha helix has precise dimensions: 3.6 residues per turn, 0.54 nm per turn. All C=O and N-H groups are involved in hydrogen bonds, making a fairly rigid cylinder. Each carbonyl is linked by a hydrogen bond to the N-H of a residue located 4 residues further on in the sequence within the same chain. In this conformation, the carbonyl and N-H groups are oriented parallel to the axis. Various types of secondary structures have been discovered, but by far the most common is the orderly repeating forms known as the a-helix and the b sheet.Īn a helix, as the name implies, is a helical arrangement of a single polypeptide chain, like a coiled spring. This level of structure describes the local folding pattern of the polypeptide backbone and is stabilized by hydrogen bonds between N-H and C=O groups. Since the average molecular weight of a residue is about 110 Da, that single-chain has a molecular weight of over 3 million Daltons. There is no theoretical maximum size, but the largest protein so far discovered has about 30,000 residues. Even such small proteins contain hundreds of atoms and have molecular weights of over 5000 Daltons (Da). So the primary structure of a small protein would consist of a sequence of 50 or so residues. The minimum size of a protein is defined as about 50 residues smaller chains are referred to simply as peptides. Thus primary structure involves only the covalent bonds linking residues together. Primary structure is simply the sequence of residues making up the protein. It is convenient to discuss protein structure in terms of four levels (primary to quaternary) of increasing complexity. This constrains the flexibility of the chain and prevents some folding patterns. This means that the six atoms involved are coplanar, and that there is no free rotation around the C–N axis. The peptide bond is written as a single bond, but it actually has some characteristics of a double bond because of the resonance between the C-O and C-N bonds: If stretched out, the side chains of the individual residues project outwards from this backbone. This is referred to as the “backbone” of the peptide. The connection gives rise to a repeating pattern of “NCC-NCC-NCC…” atoms along the length of the molecule. Conventionally, peptides are written N-terminal first therefore gly-ser is not the same as ser-gly or GS is not the same as SG. In the natural course of making a protein, polypeptides are elongated by the addition of amino acids to the C-terminal end of the growing chain. One end has a free amino group (called the “N-terminal”) and the other has a free carboxyl group (“C-terminal”). Another property of peptides is polarity: the two ends are different. Multiple amino acids result in a polypeptide (often shortened to “peptide”).īecause water is lost in the course of creating the peptide bond, individual amino acids are referred to as “amino acid residues” once they are incorporated. When two amino acids join, the result is called a dipeptide, three gives a tripeptide, etc. This bond is formed between the alpha amino group of one amino acid and the carboxyl group of another in a condensation reaction. To make a protein, amino acids are connected together by a type of amide bond called a “peptide bond”. Every character in the trailer Jin, Kazuya, Jun, King. The first thing long-time fans will probably notice is the new character models. It’s that already, defensive options are already quite strong. Tekken 8 is being built from the ground up for Unreal Engine 5 and current generation hardware (PS5, Xbox Series S/X, and PC) and the results are immediate and impressive. It’s not like we have to make defense options stronger because we added more offensive systems. You really have to think of it uniquely compared to other genres. More than making the offense oppressively strong, it’s more about taking the genre that a lot of times has defense being a bit too strong and just dialing back a bit because the offensive options are a little bit more than what we had before. Harda ensures that even if Tekken 8 is providing more offensive options, defensive playstyles are still very much viable: Sidestepping and blocking are still very useful in Tekken 8 and we even had instances where both Heat States and Rage Arts were completely neglected just because of good positioning and blocking. While the Heat System does feel dominating when used perfectly alongside a successful string of combos, we can properly attest that it is not completely impossible to guard against it. I don’t know if that’s fun for the people playing but is it fun for the people watching? Maybe not either. And in some games or in some instances, may be a bit too strong because of the timer running out or whatever. With that, it can be said that for fighting games, defense has always been really strong. There are a lot of offensive play-making capabilities in these systems when in the hands of an experienced player. The Heat and Rage systems all combine to make Tekken 8 the most visceral and thrilling game in the franchise so far. 'Of course' Tekken 8 will have crossplay, says game director Katsuhiro Harada, allowing players on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC to play alongside each other in a. When activated at any point in the match, the player will enter a Heat State where they will gain access to some special moves and enhancements depending on what character they’re using. Harada’s dedication to improving this feature in Tekken 8 shows that the team is committed to delivering a high-quality game for fans of the series. There’s already confirmation that it’s coming back to Tekken 8 but that’s not all of it.ĭuring our play session, we were given the chance to play around with a build of Tekken 8 and try out the much-touted Heat System. Tekken 7’s excellent Rage System has made for some exhilarating game comebacks from casual play or even the esports side of the series. Tekken as a franchise has developed to be one of the most aggressive fighting games in the market. He entered the stream under his official account and called out the “Cracker.” As you probably guessed, many people weren’t sure what was going on, and some people felt that this wasn’t Harada at all but merely someone using his name or even hacking his account to make that post.We recently got a chance to play Tekken 8 in a media preview event where UnGeek and other members of the Southeast Asian gaming press were able to ask questions to Tekken series director Katsuhiro Harada and game designer Michael Murray. However, a pro player named Joe Crushed decided to do a live stream of the game in its cracked form, so Harada pulled a Thanos and did the work himself. At first, Bandai Namco released a statement saying that if you, the player, keep using a cracked version of the game, you could get banned from official paying tournaments, as using the cracked version gives you an unfair advantage in playtime. One man who wasn’t amused by that in the slightest is the Tekken 8 Director, Katsuhiro Harada. However, on PC, gamers cracked the game and played it without hesitation. However, when the test ends, that’s supposed to be the end of the line. It’s very standard stuff, and gamers like to help the developers do these tests to improve the game and get some hands-on before lots of other people do. In the words of Thanos, “Fine, I’ll do it myself.” You see, not too long ago, Bandai Namco released a closed test of the upcoming Tekken 8 to do some trial and error with the internet side of the game. gravestones were battery operated creepy crawlies, hands coming out of the ground and people popping out of their graves!īut, from all these houses, my favorite one was the one that had a buffet laid out.
